Saxx Underwear Challenges the Status Quo With New Campaign

in Business/Features by
SAXX1

In mid-April, an email from SAXX underwear appeared in my inbox and instead of advertising the newest styles for summer, the subject line read “A note from our CEO”. The body of the email spoke about the underwear’s innovative “Ballpark Pouch” and the problems facing the planet and the people who were doing something about it. However, what did it all mean? The underwear company that launched a decade ago and exceeded 75% growth in revenue annually for the last five years has recently launched their #nostatusquo campaign. According to the company’s Chief Marketing Officer, Braden Hoeppner, SAXX wants to do more than just provide the world’s most comfortable underwear to men. “Our planet and society face many challenges today…

If I had to choose only one social media platform, it would have to be Instagram. I spend so (read too much) time scrolling through beautiful accounts. If you missed my video on Five Canadian Instagrammers you should follow, here it is. These gals give me major FOMO! Who doesn’t want to be in a monochromatic hip café in Toronto taking flatlays (I’m looking at you Joelle (La Petite Noob)? Alternatively, I also love wearing sweet feminine styles that only Marie Ernst can pull off. Maybe you want to play mermaid for the day and follow along with local makeup artist Jessika Petten and her brightly colored and striking transformations! While these ladies’ feeds are serious goals, there is no…

I’ve attempted some weird moves on George Street over the years from breaking out the robot to leading the entire dancefloor into an impromptu “Macarena” dance to Ed Sheeran’s “Shape Of You” but one move I have never attempted (to my recollection) on the street or in one of its twenty-four bars is a downward dog. That all changed this past Saturday when I took my mat and joined some fellow yogis for Yoga on George. The event, which coincided with the 33rd annual George Street Festival was a complimentary yoga class hosted by lululemon St. John’s who celebrated the grand opening of their store last year with a community yoga class right in the middle of George. Before the…

Feature: The Bonavista Social Club

Sometimes the REAL Newfoundland and Labrador gets lost in the shuffle of row houses and screech ins. Our hearts lie truly in the depths of rural Newfoundland, down by the water in the coziness of small, yet connected communities. The Bonavista Social Club is a reminder of the centre of our province, small town, great food and a place to feel at home. Located in the community of Upper Amherst Cove on the Bonavista Peninsula, Bonavista Social Club is owned and operated by Katie and Shane Hayes.  At first glance, it seems to be a cozy restaurant with a few NL fixings but it is more of a food production. Though food is served daily, homemade food and products are available for…

I love pizza just as much as the Ninja Turtles do so I think I know pizza. At some point during February, I passed by the old Stogger’s Pizza location and saw that a new pizza place was setting up shop. A few days later, my roommate sent me the link to their website via a Facebook message and I was intrigued and a few days after that I was kicking off the weekend with some take-out from Olio. It was right in the middle of the St. John’s Burger Battle but I wasn’t feeling it so much so I decided to spend my money on something I was pretty sure I would enjoy. According to their Facebook page, Olio…
